LINGLAP is one of the two Institutes in Humanities of the UEx, whose aim is the research in the field of linguistics and applied languages. Its team of researchers has different, but complementary research careers, and come from fields such as Classics and Modern languages, and Romanic, Germanic and Semitic Languages. We are still a young and growing Institute. |

Established in 2015Our Institute was accepted in August of 2015, thanks to the push and encouragement of professors Fiona MacArthur and Carmen Galán, who managed to group researchers and professors from diverse departments, with the idea of working together out of the departmental structures. Fiona MacArthur took charge of the first stage of the Institute until its formal establishment in January of 2017.
Our GoalThe proposal for the creation of a University Institute in Linguistics and Applied Languages clearly reflected one of the priority areas of the Spanish Strategy of Science, Technology and Innovation 2013-2020, that said, literally, "[t]he promotion of scientific and technical research of excellence demands institutions, universities, public organisms of research and public centres of R&D appropriately governed, capable of practise scientific leadership at an international level in their corresponding areas of expertise, and which, apart from this, share as a part of their own strategy an evident vocation for innovation".
