Forensic LinguisticsThe services included in this section are key for a wide variety of administrative, legislative and legal activities nowadays. The main action fields are:
- Legal agencies and institutions as well as companies, which can have access to the development of systems for speaker recognition (speaking technology), the determination of authorship; the identification of letters or anonymous notes in trials; plagiarism detection; or the assessment of the relevance of a lexical element in an official text, among others. - Healthcare institutions, by means of the development of tools for people with linguistic pathologies and specific communicative handicaps (speech technology); and, at the same time, by means of the development of tools that allow experts to operate medicine and forensic psychiatry. |
CommunicationThis scope of action is focused in the counselling of communicative skills (in Spanish and other languages represented in the IUI). In other words, it provides counselling by means of edition and correction of texts, style revision, and the creation of Digital Humanities through “pill” (i.e. short audio-visual productions based on a methodology that is created out of a brief conference created by university researchers and scholars, and which is enriched with specific informative resources). This section also includes translation and interpretation, creation of teaching material, etc.
